Hello everyone, welcome to the justajae racial project!
This blog is dedicated to recording experiences I have had specifically attributed to my racial identity. The "jae" part of justajae is an acronym for "Japanese-American Experience." I was born in Japan, but moved to the States at a young age and have been here ever since. I can speak and understand Japanese, and am currently learning to read and write fluently. As a college student, I have chosen to major in Japanese. I identify as Japanese-American.
This blog has 2 main purposes:
1. To be a part of the movement of solidifying of an Asian-American identity.
2. To encourage further education of Asian and Asian-American history in American schools.

This project began the summer of 2014, and I continue to update it. In August 2014, this extended to another blog interacting with the company Jossle, where I wrote a number of articles with similar themes, but focusing specifically on my point of view as an Asian-American female college student.
